SUMBANGAN ‘BOX OF HOPE’ AIR SELANGOR DITERUSKAN MELALUI PLATFORM AKAUN BANK

28 NOVEMBER 2020

AIR SELANGOR'S ‘BOX OF HOPE’ CONTRIBUTION EXTENDED TO A BANK ACCOUNT PLATFORM

Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) today continued its noble efforts through Box of Hope by distributing food supply to 100 underprivileged recipients at Flat Taman Gasing Indah Petaling Jaya. The distribution of the boxes was also attended by representatives from Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia.

During the programme presentation, Air Selangor also introduced a new platform for the public to make contributions via a CIMB Bank Berhad’s account 80-0798511-8 and include the ‘Box of Hope’ Initiative Assistance as a remark. This is to make it easier for the public to make donations without having to go to Village Grocer branches or any of Air Selangor's regional offices. The public can donate anytime, anywhere. This is also in line with the efforts to reduce the rate of COVID-19 infection where people can donate online without having to leave their homes. However, the public needs to ensure that the value of the contribution is correct during the transaction as any refund application cannot be made after the transaction is made.

With the public’s donations, Air Selangor will purchase the essential food items and donate them to the B40 group in need, targetting the grassroots community living in the Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) and rural areas. With the launch of this bank account, Air Selangor hopes that more individuals and organisations will come together to provide assistance and contributions.

The Box of Hope initiative is part of Air Selangor's Corporate Social Responsibility Program, ‘Sesama Mara’, launched on 30 June. This initiative aims to help the B40 community in need of essential food items during the COVID-19 pandemic. People can donate food items such as flour, rice, canned food, milk, and cooking oil at the Box of Hope located in five Village Grocer locations such as Tamarind Square Cyberjaya, MyTown Cheras, 1 Mont Kiara, I-City Mall Shah Alam, and Melawati Mall. This initiative is supported by Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia which works together to distribute the donated items to the underprivileged communities.

To date, the Box of Hope initiative has helped a total of 253 families from the B40 group who are in need of essential food items for survival especially in obtaining their daily food source. Air Selangor hopes that this initiative will continue to receive attention and support from the public to donate.
